Music Theory Mansfield

I have been playing musical instruments since I was about 6 or 7 years of age, and whilst instruments have come and gone in my life, music theory is a fundamental subject needed to be proficient at any instrument. I now not only enjoy still playing many instruments, but I also enjoy offering lessons for Music Theory. Mansfield is one of the areas I cover.

Are you a beginner to music lessons? Or have you now reached a point in your music career where you need to increase your knowledge in Music Theory? Once you have achieved grade 5 practical music exams with the ABRSM school of music, they will wish you to take a theory exam to ensure your foundations in music are well formed.

Not many people will realise that learning to play an instrument also includes learning another language – learning to read music. This can be a scary thought to a lot of people and quite a few students I receive here at Zoe Life Music initially don’t want to learn to read music because of that!

It may be that bad experiences as a child with “old school” music teachers and learning to read music just didn’t make any sense. But the doors and avenues that learning about music theory can open up to you as a musician are endless.

Imagine, being able to sit and listen to a piece of music, be able to spot patterns, chord progressions and all sorts of cool things within the music to enable you to easily play that same piece yourself? And knowing how music works – a little like a jigsaw puzzle, means that you can also compose your very own music!

Here at Zoe Life Music whatever you do regarding learning music theory, I ensure that the lessons are fun, tailored to your needs, and to your style of learning. As well as running individual 1 to 1 music theory lessons, I also run Theory Workshops occasionally throughout the year to promote networking and friendships with other musicians.
