Music Theory Nottinghamshire

I have been playing musical instruments since I was about 6 or 7 years of age, and whilst instruments have come and gone in my life, music theory is a fundamental subject needed to be proficient at any instrument. I now not only enjoy still playing many instruments, but I also enjoy offering lessons for Music Theory. Nottinghamshire is one of the areas I cover.

Have you just started to learn an instrument? Or have you always dreamed of playing, but the thought of having to learn to read music is so great; it stops you in your tracks? You may have now reached a point in your music career where you have to take a Theory exam in order to continue taking the practical music exams to ensure you have good musicianship knowledge to support you in your instrument playing.

Not many people understand that learning to play an instrument also involves learning another language – learning to read music. This is every now and then quite nerve-wracking to a few students, who initially don’t want to learn to read music because of that!

It may be that as a child you had music lessons, but at that time learning to read music didn’t make any sense. However, the openings that learning about music theory can open up to you as a musician and your musical ability are great.

Imagine, listening to a piece of music, and be able to spot chord progressions and patterns within the music that will enable you to play that piece more easily yourself? If you know how music works, fits together – which can be like a jigsaw puzzle, this means that you can also create your very own music compositions!

Here at Zoe Life Music whatever your fears, thoughts or goals regarding studying music theory, I make ensure that the lessons are enjoyable, suited to you as an individual, and to your style of learning. I mainly run 1 to 1 theory lessons; however there are theory workshops (theory parties!) run occasionally throughout the year which provides a fun environment to meet other people in the same boat as you.
